A new team tournament, “Badminton Asia Team Championships” will be staged in the week of February 15th in Hyderbad, India. Team VICTOR players Sung Ji Hyun and Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan, who just lifted the trophies at India’s Grand Prix Gold Syed Modi International Badminton Championships on Sunday, will hopefully lead Korean women’s team to the first honor.

The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2016 is a new event organized by the Badminton Asia (formerly known as the Badminton Asia Confederation) with 14 participating countries in 2016, using the format of the Thomas and Uber Cup in hopes of creating more team-based playing opportunities and to develop badminton as a whole in Asia. VICTOR is honored to become the official equipment, outfitter, and the official shuttlecock (VICTOR MASTER ACE) of the inaugural edition.

Sung, Korea’s leading women’s singles player, is off to another great start to the season. She has gone 9-1 after making the semis at the VICTOR FAR EAST Malaysia Masters and going on to win last week’s Syed Modi Championships in Lucknow. Last year, Sung opened her season also with a win at the German Open G.P. Gold.

Her teammates Jung and Shin, #TheRealDeal in Denmark last season, took the women’s doubles title.

Winning in India isn’t something new to Jung. The 25-year-old Masan native won her first career Superseries tournament in New Delhi at the 2012 India Open with Kim Ha Na.

The Korean women’s team will be seeded third after China and Japan at the Asian Team Championships. The draw will be made on Tuesday.
